First West Foundation becomes Tru Charitable Foundation
LANGLEY, B.C. — First West Foundation is proud to announce that it has officially changed its name to Tru Charitable Foundation.
The change follows First West Credit Union's recent transition to Tru Cooperative Bank and reflects the Foundation's own evolution, as well as its longstanding relationship with its founding partner.
While the name is changing, the Foundation's mission remains the same: investing in local communities, supporting charitable organizations and creating opportunities to help people and communities flourish. Tru Charitable Foundation will continue to build meaningful partnerships to advance the charitable purpose that has guided its work for years.
“This is an exciting milestone for our organization,” says Tracy Fortino, Executive Director of Tru Charitable Foundation. “While our name is changing, our purpose remains the same. For years, we have worked alongside community organizations and partners to create meaningful impact, and that commitment will continue under the Tru Charitable Foundation name. This change better reflects who we are today, strengthens our alignment with Tru Cooperative Bank and positions us to deepen our impact in the communities we serve for years to come.”
Since its founding, the Foundation has helped improve lives through strategic investments, community partnerships and initiatives that address local needs. The transition to Tru Charitable Foundation includes updates to its branding, communications materials and digital presence which will be happening over the coming months. There will be no changes to existing programs or funding commitments.
Established in 1996, the Foundation has awarded more than $15 million in grants to local community groups and projects and continues to support initiatives that help communities thrive throughout British Columbia.
